SASS Cowboy RO I and RO II Courses
These courses have been cancelled due to covid infection. They will be rescheduled.
Registration: 8:30 AM
Course starts: 9:00 AM
End Time: about 4:00 PM
Cost: $30 for first time registrants, $10 for refresher

SASS certified safety courses are essential to the education and safety of those participating in the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting™ at all levels of competition. It is suggested all competitors attend at minimum the level one course to ensure the understanding of all SASS safety covenants and basic rules of the game.

LEVEL ONE (RO–I)
The goal of the level one safety course is to develop SASS Range Operations Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to ensure safety and consistency at all Cowboy Action Shooting™ matches.
RO–I Course Details:
– All members are encouraged to attend an RO–I Course
– RO–I Courses are open to SASS members only
– RO–I Course certification fee is $30
– RO–I refresher course is for those who have previously completed the RO-I course. It is the same course time and material, with any additional updates, changes, or clarifications presented. In this case, the fees are $10. SASS recommends shooters take a refresher course every two years.

LEVEL TWO (RO–II)
The goal of the level two safety course is to educate and give practical experience to next-level SASS Range Operations Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to perform key match official roles such as Posse Marshal or Timer Operator or to act as other Range officer/officials.
RO–II Course Details:
– RO–II Courses are open to SASS members only
– RO–I must be completed prior to attending an RO-II course
– RO–I certification must have been completed in the last year. Some exceptions may be made.
– RO–II Course certification fee is $30
– RO–II refresher course is for those who have previously completed the RO-II course. It is the same course time and material, with any additional updates, changes, or clarifications presented. In this case, the fees are $10. SASS recommends shooters take a refresher course every two years.

CANDIDATE PREPARATION

All candidates must preregister with Legendary Lawman and Serenity.
From the SASS web site, download the Shooter’s Handbook and either the RO-I manual or the RO-II manual, depending on which course you are taking. Bring this material along with note paper and a pen to the course. Be sure you have read the material; before coming to the course.

Note that firearms or ammunition must not be brought to the class.

Please bring refreshments and lunch. Coffee and a few cold drinks are available at the club for $1.

Note: If shooters are intending to become SASS members in the very near future, they may attend the class with the understanding that no certification will be given unless they join SASS in a reasonable time after the class.
